I am so proud of everyone trying their very best to strive to learn their memory work. Congratulations on a job well done. Keep on reviewing and have fun along the way. Caroline and Jayven, we hope to see you next week.
We started our Orchestra and Great Composers study... Our introduction to the different periods of Classical Music and the Orchestra's instruments. Thank you very much Mrs. Herson. For more details on the orchestra and the different instruments, you can check out the following sites:

Timeline: Song - CC CD
We sang through the song and did the hand motions with it (as done during the opening time).
Science: Song - NoGreaterJoy
We sang through the song and did sign language for the words (See below, if you need further explanation on this, see me next week). I also have an illustration for the kids to remember the words which I will send via email.
Energy - Right hand signs letter "E" and move from left shoulder to left upper forearm
cannot - right pointer finger taps left pointer finger
created - make a fist on both hands, one on top of the other and twist
destroyed - right and left palm facing each other and pull away from opposite direction to form a fist
Latin: Song - CC CD
We reviewed Present Perfect Tense and the hint is... If you receive a perfect present, your reaction is "Yiiiii". Remember, we change it to "eee" instead of "eye". Please take note of this as it is not the same as the one we hear on the CD.
Math: Song - NoGreaterJoy
We sang through the song a couple of times and I have a drawing for this one for the kids to remember the area of the circle. We also reviewed all of Geometry beginning from area of the rectangle. I will send the drawing via email.
English: Song - NoGreaterJoy
We chanted through the sentence with actions and hand motions (See below). I believe a lot of the kids are having a hard time with "present participle verb form". Work with them on this.
gerund - jump in place
present participle - stop (you are in the present)
verb - run in place
noun - flip right hand up
Geography: Point and say through Southeastern Asia
We worked from North Korea and ended in Guam. Just a note to parents, the kids are having a hard time pronouncing Guam... I am very surprised... most of them kept saying Guan... Please remind them it ends in "m" not "n". And a lot of them keep forgetting Taiwan (maybe because it is not familiar). Do work on these two countries. Since we have extra time, we were able to review the last six weeks' Geography lessons.
Review game was very exciting unfortunately, we did not have enough time nor adults. But I believe the kids are very motivated because it is an individual game. I haven't given the kids their tickets for that one yet because we did not finish it. I might have to sort of summarize the tickets I am giving them because I don't think I can continue the game next week. Anyway, I'll talk to them next week about this(or they might have forgotten about this already which would be very good for me). Again, I would like to reiterate that I am encouraging and motivating the kids through the tickets... getting the tickets is not the main goal. Doing your best is! So, please keep on working with them.
So, that's all for now. Below are some of my book recommendations.
The Story of the Orchestra by Robert Levine
Those Amazing Musical Instruments by Genevieve Helsby
Korean Conflict by Scott Marquette
The Korean War by Brian Fitzgerald
The Law of Thermodynamics by Rose McCarthy
Sir Cumference and the First Round Table by Cindy Neuschwander
Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi by Cindy Neuschwander
Nouns and Verbs Have a Field Day by Robin Pulver (This is a fun one, another in this series is Punctuation Takes a Vacation)
Have fun and have a wonderful week, everyone.
